Viarium is breaking new ground in its quest to establish itself as a global airport engineering firm

12/05/2026

Just a few days ago, Viarium embarked on a new chapter as a civil engineering firm. As part of its strategy for international expansion and consolidation in the airport sector, the Spanish company took a significant step forward by actively participating in the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference 2026 (PTE World), held at ExCeL London.

From spectator to leading exhibitor

Viarium, one of Spain’s leading companies in the airport engineering sector, which had previously attended the trade show as a visitor, decided this time to step out of its supporting role and join the extensive roster of more than 400 exhibitors. On this occasion, it made its voice heard as a key player at the event and positioned itself among the international trendsetters in an increasingly competitive market, where cutting-edge engineering and technological solutions form the backbone of major airport projects.

This presence marked a turning point that has enabled Viarium not only to significantly increase its visibility—which until now had been focused primarily on Spain—but also to showcase its portfolio of successful projects, through which it is establishing itself as a leading player in the industry. This is no small feat in an industry where it has recently delivered large-scale projects in collaboration with operators such as Aena, with whom it has developed projects like the terminals in Lanzarote and Barcelona; with GAP, the Kingston Airport (Jamaica); and the recently inaugurated project with Fraport at Burgas Airport (Bulgaria).

Toward International Expansion

The company's participation in the PTE demonstrates its commitment to growth, authenticity, and international expansion”, says Lorenzo Palomo, CEO of Viarium. “Our presence in the Passenger Terminal is the result of tremendous teamwork and the culmination of the company’s new expansion strategy, which, after 16 years, continues to mature”, he adds.

On this occasion, the PTE held its annual meeting in England, bringing together airport operators, engineering firms, consulting firms, and technology companies with the shared goal of exchanging knowledge and looking ahead to the future of the sector. There, Viarium’s new brand showcased its capabilities and demonstrated its ability to lead complex projects in various countries, establishing itself as a key player in the design and management of smart airport infrastructure.

We want to demonstrate that we are a full-service firm, a 360-degree civil engineering company capable of developing and executing projects from the initial concept through to their final completion. We have also been able to convey to our potential clients that we are a modern company with the capacity to innovate and develop cutting-edge technological solutions in-house, which allows us not only to envision the airports of the future, but also to already possess the tools necessary to build them”, Palomo emphasizes.

Strategic presence and key relationships in the industry

During the event, Viarium was represented by its entire executive team, who personally interacted with partners and clients: the CEO, the Director of Airports, the Director of Engineering, heads of key departments such as Design, Project Management, and Business Development, as well as the Finance Department.

This presence made it possible to hold meetings with some of the leading international operators, such as Aeroporti di Roma, Fraport Greece, Fraport Bulgaria, ANA Portugal, Changi Airports, SAVE, or GAP, thereby strengthening the company's position in strategic markets.

In addition, relationships with key industry partners such as Artelia, Egis, Surbana, or ACI Lac, exploring new avenues of collaboration.

Effective Networking: First Bids

Within the broad ecosystem that is the PTE, Viarium—recognized just a few months ago as one of Spain’s top 50 engineering firms—strengthened its ties with major players and operators in the airport sector. The results were not long in coming: in the days following the trade show, the company began receiving invitations to participate in tenders and explore new partnerships with entities such as Aeroporti di Roma, Fraport Greece, and Riyadh Airports, demonstrating the direct impact of its presence at PTE World 2026.

One of the highlights of their participation was the coordinated effort of a team working together to develop a unified message and strategy which, in Palomo’s own words, “aims to convey Viarium's values and demonstrate that our technical expertise ranks among the best in the world”.

The joint effort of the various departments in staging the event—particularly strategic areas such as Business Development and Communications—was essential in ensuring that this first appearance generated significant buzz around the brand. “Beyond the results, I think we’re taking away something just as important: confidence in what we’re capable of achieving together and excitement for everything that lies ahead”, the CEO concludes.

Communication as a new driver of growth

And what lies ahead is a path marked by new opportunities. As part of this strategy for sustained growth, Viarium is already planning to participate in other international events, including the upcoming PTE in 2027, to be held in Amsterdam. To support this growth, the company intends to rely on its Communications department as the driving force behind its external outreach. With this initiative, it aims to strengthen its position in the international airport sector, generate new business opportunities, consolidate strategic relationships, attract talent, and communicate the scope of its projects in a more dynamic, direct, and informative manner.
